Former Rudding Park head chef to launch solo venture in Harrogate
The former head chef of Rudding Park hotel in Yorkshire is to open his own restaurant in Harrogate.
Darren Gladman (pictured) and his wife, Debbie, have taken over a ground-floor site in a former office building on Harrogate's Princess Square. The pair will launch the Square Bar and Restaurant in October.
The restaurant will serve a modern British menu with a strong emphasis on seasonal Yorkshire produce.
Darren and Debbie Gladman have spent the past eight years running Harrogate's Oakdale Golf Club restaurant.
Commenting on the forthcoming launch, Darren Gladman said: "We will be sad to leave the golf club but the chance to open our own restaurant and put into practice the extensive experience we have both built up was too good an opportunity to miss."
He added: "We believe the location will help connect the upper and lower areas of Harrogate's town centre, particularly as we'll be offering an area in the Square bar where people can simply sit and relax while having a drink and perhaps something to eat from our lighter bar menu."
