Galton Blackiston to open Cromer fish and chip shop

Michelin-starred chef Galton Blackiston is set to open a fish and chip shop in Cromer.

Blackiston is now recruiting for a chef, having decided to launch the venture, called No 1 New Street Fish and Chip Shop.

The move is in partnership with Cromer local Spencer Gray. Gray previously ran a seafood shop in Cromer and now runs Lucy's chip stall on Norwich market. Potato farmer Chris Griffin is also joining the venture.

The fish and chip shop should be open by mid-July, and fish will be cooked in the traditional manner with beef dripping, rather than oil.

Blackiston, who started his career selling cakes and biscuits on a market stall in Rye in 1979, runs Morston Hall in north Norfolk, which holds a Michelin star and three AA rosettes.
