Las Iguanas to add three restaurants to its portfolio

Latin American restaurant chain Las Iguanas is opening two new restaurants in Harrogate and Basingstoke this month, bringing its total portfolio to 50.

It has also signed up to open a new site at the Marine Boardwalk, the first phase of the mixed-use West Quay Development at Brighton Marina, due to be completed in July.

The Harrogate branch will open today (11 April) while the Basingstoke venue will open its doors on 25 April.

These latest openings are part of a major roll-out of Las Iguanas restaurants across the UK, following its purchase last year by Casual Dining Group (CDG) which bought the business for around £85m.

Both the Harrogate and Basingstoke restaurants are centrally located, with Las Iguanas in Harrogate situated in the town's restaurant enclave of John Street and the Basingstoke venue in the heart of the shopping centre at Festival Place.

Diners at both restaurants will be offered a new spring menu including ceviche in tiger's milk with sweet potato crisps, pan-fried sea bass achiote and a traditional moqueca de piexe mild Brazilian curry with coconut and fresh tomato sauce.

Other dishes include ribs with a sticky Havana Club glaze and the fiesta ensalada with butternut, avocado, roquito peppers and charred corn.

Desserts include dulce de leche cheesecake, cinnamon dusted churros and the new mojito jelly with lemon and lime sorbet.

To celebrate this year's Brazilian Olympics the bars at both restaurants will be serving caipirinha cocktails made from cachaça distilled near Brasilia.

The group is also celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, which it is marking with a range of 25 cocktails.
