Mike Williams named Byron people director
Mike Williams has been named people director at Byron, as the burger chain continues its rapid expansion across the country.
The former people development director at Village Urban Resorts, who won the Best Employer Catey in 2014 and was named Human Resources manager of the Year at the 2014 Hotel Cateys, replaces Steve Rockey who left Byron in September 2014.
Williams said: "It's really exciting. I've been keen to do something that wasn't hotels but still in my comfort zone and restaurants is the element within hotels is the part I've always been interested in.
"The fact that it's a rapidly growing business means that talent and engagement will be important, which are the elements that I enjoy."
Byron currently operates 48 restaurants, the majority in London though it is in the midst of rolling out in shopping malls and high streets across the country.
"The big picture work is similar to hotels, in terms of attracting talent through a great employer brand," Williams added. "It's already a really cool place to work.
"It's clear to me from the start that the ethos here is doing things properly. We all know the burgers are fantastic but there's a real ambition for excellence which I think I'll really enjoy."
