MOD Pizza announces three new site as UK rollout gathers pace

MOD Pizza is to open three new sites by the end of the year as the business, backed by Carphone Warehouse founder Sir Charles Dunstone, accelerates its rollout.

The build your own pizza brand, which has 135 restaurants in the US, will open a flagship site in London's Leicester Square in November, along with a site in Newcastle Metro Centre and a restaurant in Nottingham in December.

MOD Pizza launched in Leeds in June and will open another site in Brighton Marina in August.

Founded in Seattle, Washington, by Scott and Ally Svenson, MOD's artisan-style pizzas are made on demand from a choice of 34 toppings.

The brand's rollout in the UK is backed by Dunstone and Carphone Warehouse deputy chairman Roger Taylor through their investment partnership Freston Ventures, which operates a joint venture with Five Guys burgers.

Referring to MOD Pizza's stated aim of supporting local communities Scott Svenson said: "We feel so lucky and excited to introduce more people and communities throughout the UK to the MOD brand, and we hope that as people discover and come to love our pizza, they will also come to understand our mission to make a positive impact on as many people as possible.

"More than anything, it is our hope to become a positive part of each of these communities - providing great jobs, career growth opportunities and making a positive difference in the community."
