Two new Avalanche sites set to open in Manchester

Manchester's Avalanche restaurant is set to open two new locations in the city as part of a £2m expansion programme.

The Italian restaurant and late-night bar on Booth Street has plans for new sites based in the city centre and South Manchester.

Having launched in November 2012, the restaurant reported a turnover of £2m in its first year of trading.

"Over the past 18 months we have created a loyal customer-base and built a credible reputation and brand that has become synonymous with fine Italian dining. We had initially planned to launch additional sites within Manchester over the coming years. However, the success of our first venue has accelerated this process."

Having cost £1m to launch the first Avalanche site, the next two will receive the same level of investment. The new restaurants are expected to create more than 100 jobs in the area.

Ishaq added: "The two new locations will further strengthen Avalanche's presence within Manchester, allowing us to expand our offering within city's vibrant hospitality and dining market. In addition to this, we are committed to launching the Avalanche brand farther afield, and will start to look to other cities - including London - once the new Manchester properties are up and running."

She forecast that the business would turnover £10m by the third quarter of 2015.
