Yuu Kitchen to open in London
The restaurant inspired by south-east Asia and the Pacific rim will be managed by Stephen Lowe, formerly of Icebar, and Jon de Villa previously of Nobu Berkeley, London and Zafferano, Belgravia, London.
Dishes have been created to be shared, including: bao buns filled with twice-cooked 7up braised pork belly and crispy soft-shell crab; salmon jalapeÁ±o tostada; butternut and sweetcorn pot stickers; poke with tuna, salmon, whitefish and octopus; and peanut chicken cooked using a Big Green Egg grill.
The drinks menu will include seasonal cocktails such as Asian Persuasion or the Yuu Collins with Yuzushu Sake, gin and lemon juice topped with Soda. Sake will also be on offer.
Through a collaboration with Hong Kong based artist, Lunatic, the artwork displayed in the restaurant will have strong influences from Manga, Asian fashion, comic-book and pop culture.
Villa said: "Yuu Kitchen has been a dream of mine since travelling extensively over the last 10 years from my native Australia, working in the Maldives and the UK. We were planning to open Yuu kitchen all the way back in the days of Sydney and now, having gained over 20 years' experience are excited to launch this new venture.
"We've seen that casual dining is taking more of a precedence in the London dining scene and as such have looked to create a menu that takes some of the best bits of south-east asian cuisine and pacific rim flavours to turn them into something delicious and of great value. We want to bring the multicultural diversity of Asian food that we grew up with in Australia and bring it to London."
