Apetito launches new plated meal service CarteChoix

Frozen food and catering solutions provider Apetito has launched a new plated meal service called CarteChoix.

The system has been designed to reduce wastage, improve ward efficiency and enhance recovery. The à la carte meals, ready in five minutes using new technology - the iWave, manufactured by RH Hall - are prepared and served on china plates, ensuring style and substance.

Flexibility can be extended with a bespoke Falcon oven which can regenerate up to 10 meals ready in under an hour.

This system, combined with new equipment technologies, will provide patients with restaurant-style nutritionally balanced meals. On offer are 20 main courses - including roast beef and gravy, sausage and mash, all day breakfast, pasta and meatballs and vegetable curry - as well as eight desserts.

The new system in place on the high-turnover maternity ward at St George's Hospital in Tooting, London, has received positive patient and family feedback. Wastage has been reduced and the renal and ICU wards will follow soon.
