Cadbury's commits to green and ethical future

Confectionary giant Cadbury's set up the Cadbury Cocoa Partnership at the start of this year to secure the economic, social and environmental sustainability of about one million cocoa farmers and their communities in Ghana, India, Indonesia and the Caribbean.

Its Purple Goes Green vision for 2020, which involves tackling climate change by shrinking its global environmental footprint, was launched in July 2007.

It contains commitments to reduce Cadbury's carbon emissions by 50%, to aim towards using 60% biodegradable packaging, to put water reduction programmes in place in all water-scarce sites; and to actively campaign for change.
