Tomato slicer, vegetable peeler and mini-chopper from Gilberts

25 September 2008 by

Three gadgets in the Gilberts armoury are designed to deal quickly with the recommended five-a-day portions of fruit and vegetables.

The Nemco Easy Tomato Slicer, made from cast aluminium and stainless steel, can safely reduce a mound of tomatoes or onions into uniform slices within seconds.

Its removable, pre-tensioned cartridge and self-lubricating tracks keep the blades correctly aligned to avoid nicks and broken blades.

The Original Peel Appeal removes only the finest layer of skin from carrots or potatoes. The Swiss-made appliance also offers three more specialised options - the Julienne Peel Appeal, a Kiwi Slicer and Cheese Slicer.

The Swizzz Prozzz Mini-Chopper is a small, portable, non-powered unit for whipping up individual portions of vegetables, fruit, nuts, herbs and boneless meats. Operators simply pull on the mechanism to adjust the cut from thick for chunky vegetables to increasingly fine cuts, such as for purées.

The three-bladed chopper comes with three spare bowls and lids for extra storage and is both dishwasher- and microwave-safe.
