Rocket Leisure to open live music bar in Shoreditch

Independent bar operator Rocket Leisure is opening a live music bar on 30 June in Shoreditch, London.

The operator behind Venn St Records and Northcote Records will be opening Old St Records near Old Street station next week. Set across two floors, the 300-capacity bar will put on live music performances six nights a week, including soul, funk, jazz, rock and classic pop.

The cocktail list will include the brand's signature cocktail Sour Records, a whiskey sour with pistachio syrup; and Late Breakfast, a blend of grapefruit vodka with pink grapefruit juice, marmalade syrup, grapefruit bitters and egg white. The bar will also serve Italian thin-crust pizza.

From labels showcasing their up-and-coming talent to renowned DJs, music will be the driving force behind the bar. The interior will feature shelves piled with record sleeves and band memorabilia adorning the walls. Customers will also be able to purchase records with their cocktails. Entry during week nights will be free alongside a happy hour until 8pm; a cover charge will apply Friday and Saturday evenings.

Rocket Leisure co-director Tom Jackman said: "Shoreditch was the perfect location for Rocket Leisure's next bar. The brand's combination of live music and cocktails is a natural fit and unique addition to the the area's buzzing nightlife. Old St. Records is a lot bigger than our other sites and we've taken the opportunity to invest in a killer AV system."
