Welcome Break opens off motorway on former Little Chef site

Motorway services operator Welcome Break has opened its first site off the motorway network.

The service station, which includes a Starbucks, KFC and Waitrose food shop, is on the site of a former Little Chef at Oxford Peartree on the A34/A40/A44 Peartree Interchange.

Welcome Break chief executive Rod McKie said: "Oxford Peartree is located on a major A road that has motorway characteristics. The travelling public now demand greater choice and higher-calibre brands, such as Waitrose, Starbucks and KFC, which we are able to offer them. This is our first compact service station and, if it proves successful, could lead to further opportunities for Welcome Break."

The service station will be open from 6am until 11am, 365 days a year.

The existing staff have been retained and a further 20 staff employed.
