BrewDog attacks ASA over offensive language charge
BrewDog co-founder James Watt (pictured, right) has attacked the Advertising Standards Agency (ASA) in typically colourful terms after it upheld a complaint regarding the use of offensive language on the brewers website.
Despite removing the paragraph on the homepage of brewdog.com which included a claim that the firm was "a post Punk apocalyptic mother fu*ker of a craft brewery", Watt said that the ASA had no jurisdiction over the business.
The ASA had upheld a complaint against the Scottish brewer over offensive language. The offending paragraph on the BrewDog website read: "Say goodbye to the corporate beer whores crazy for power and world domination. Ride toward anarchy and caramel craziness. Let the sharp bitter finish rip you straight to the tits. Save up for a Luger, and drill the bastards."
When the claim was upheld, the ASA said that BrewDog did not provide "a substantive response". It has now responded in a statement entitled "Free F**king Speech: BrewDog responds to ASA ruling".
