British Larder recipe website founder buys Suffolk pub

The founder of the British Larder, an online recipe diary, has taken over the Cherry Tree pub in Bromeswell, Suffolk, to give the website a physical home.

Working alongside her partner Ross Pike, Madalene Bonvini-Hamel aims to create a modern British food offering in a relaxed, family-friendly environment.

Like the recipes on her website, the 50-seat British Larder Suffolk will have an emphasis on seasonal ingredients sourced from local suppliers.

The renamed pub will be open from the end of July, and its new owners plan a full refurbishment, including extension of the dining area, in early 2011.

"The area has so much to offer, not least local suppliers offering superb food from land and sea," said Bonvini-Hamel. "We are looking forward to showcasing some of their excellent products."
