Acorn Awards 2014 winners revealed

Thirty of the brightest prospects in the hospitality industry under the age of 30 are to be presented with an Acorn Award today.

The youthful high-achievers will be handed their awards, which are run in association with ACT Clean, at a celebration lunch held at the Four Seasons hotel Hampshire.

The winners represent every sector of the hospitality industry, including hotels (budget to five-star properties) and restaurants (both in groups and those with Michelin stars), as well as contract catering companies.

Each year the Acorn Awards recognise the flair and passion of 30 people under 30 in the hospitality industry. They are nominated by their peers for making an impression in their field.

The winners arrived at the Four Seasons hotel Hampshire on Sunday and, after welcome speeches from Mark Lewis, group editor of Caterer and Hotelkeeper, and Robert Beaugie, founder and owner of sponsor ACT Clean, set about tackling a team building boot camp. Led by Major Headache, the platoons took on a series of challenges that tested their determination, teamwork and tenacity.

After the afternoon’s activities, the Acorns relaxed in the hotel’s walled garden with a barbecue hosted by David Monson, director of food and beverage at the Four Seasons hotel Hampshire.

At today’s formal proceedings Ace hotel general Chris Penn will give an inspirational speech, sharing with the audience his experience of running top hotels and offering some advice to the aspiring leaders of the future.

ACT Clean founder and owner Robert Beaugie said: “We would like to extend our congratulations, not only to each and every winner, but also to those nominated. Each winner joins a very elite band of the highest achievers in our industry and should be very proud.”
