Hayden Groves leaves Elior to join BaxterStorey
National Chef of the Year runner-up Hayden Groves has been appointed executive chef at BaxterStorey's contract at Barclays at Churchill Place, Caterer and Hotelkeeper has learnt.
Groves's new position will see him assume responsibility for the fine dining, hospitality and the Greenwich Room Restaurant, a 45-cover facility for executives to entertain clients.
He is expected to join BaxterStorey in early March from rival contract caterer Elior, where he has been executive chef at Lloyd's of London for the past seven-and-a-half years.
Overseeing all food operations, Groves currently oversees four kitchens and his role has given him the opportunity to cook for national and international royalty.
He is also responsible for the food offer at Elior's commercial wine bar venture, One Under Lime, serving a menu of British classics and bar food. Under Groves's management, it achieved sales of £1m net in its first 10 months after opening in February last year.
Other notable achievements include being the captain of Elior's culinary team, which he will again lead at La Parade at Hotelympia in February, and heavy involvement in the transition of one of the kitchens to induction technology
Commenting on his career moves, Groves said: "My position at Lloyd's has been the pinnacle of my career to date. I'm really looking forward to the fresh challenge and putting my stamp on the food at Barclays."
