Makro makes senior management changes to strengthen customer focus

Self-service wholesaler Makro has made senior management changes designed to strengthen its customer focus. Managing director Jürgen Schwarze will now have overall responsibility for customer management. Sam Newton, formerly head of advertising at Asda, has been recruited to further champion the customer. Mike Baker has been appointed (acting) procurement & merchandising director of food and Otto van Harmelen has been appointed (acting) procurement & merchandising director of non food.

Other recently appointed board positions include Stephen Blan as operations director and Jens Köppen as finance director.
