Japanese restaurant group Curry House CoCo Ichibanya is set to open its first UK restaurant tomorrow.
The chain, which has more than 1,400 branches across the world, will launch in London's Covent Garden on the site of what was okonomiyaki restaurant Abeno Too at 17-18 Great Newport Street.
It will serve Japanese-style curry rice, offering diners the chance to customise their dishes by determining the size of rice portion, the desired spice level, the level of mildness and toppings.
Advertising for staff to run the new site, the business promised an "upscale, full-service restaurant experience" and service in accordance with its company motto "briskly, sharply and with a smile".
Curry House CoCo Ichibanya was founded in 1978, with three restaurants in the suburb of Nagoya in Japan. It reached 1,000 worldwide by 2004 and has sites in Hawaii, Shanghai, Bangkok, Hong Kong and Los Angeles.
