Scottish chef John Paul McLachlan buys North Berwick deli & café Bunney's

Renowned chef John Paul McLachlan has bought North Berwick business Bunney's Deli & Café, which was on the market with specialist property advisors Christie + Co.

Executive chef of the two AA Rosette-restaurant John Paul at the Marine (at the MacDonald Marine Hotel and Spa in North Berwick) and former head chef of London restaurant Albannach, McLachlan was awarded 2012 Hotel Chef of The Year at the Scottish Hotel Awards.

His plans for the 20-cover site which will be renamed as "JP's Deli & Café â€' include developing a wider deli range to champion local produce, and building up an improved wine offer.

He said: "I am delighted to have finally secured Bunney's as it is a site I have had my eye on for several years now. While this is my first business on my own, the experience and contacts I have established in the catering industry will help make this a successful first footing."
