Love, a former Roux Scholar and National Chef of the Year winner, opened Love's Restaurant earlier this month. He is overseeing the kitchen together with sous chef Ed Atwell, while his wife Claire is managing the front-of-house.
Located in the centre of Birmingham on Canal Square, Love's Restaurant comprises a 32-seat main dining area and a private room for eight. It offers a fine dining menu focused on seasonal British ingredients.
Steve and Claire Love ran their original Love's Restaurant in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, from 2001 to 2005, when they moved to the College Arms in Lower Quinton, Stratford-upon-Avon.
Steve Love then joined the Cotswold House hotel in Gloucestershire as head chef in 2007, where he was in charge of the property's fine-dining restaurant Juliana's as well as its Hick's brasserie.
He left Cotswold House in July and told Caterer he was delighted to have his own restaurant and regain full control of both the kitchen and front-of-house operation.
"It's a great personal achievement to have opened this restaurant," he said. "We want to offer value for money and provide a great dining experience."
