Tortilla to open first restaurant in Scotland
Fast-casual restaurant group Tortilla is to open its first restaurant in Scotland, in Glasgow's Silverburn shopping centre.
The 1367sq ft, 58-cover venue is expected to open in the summer.
The latest outpost for the burrito chain, which was founded in 2007, has been designed by agency Design LSM with bright colours and a subtle Mexican theme.
It will sit in a £20m dining and leisure extension that hosts a range of casual dining restaurants such as Thaikhun, Carluccio's, Chimichanga, Cosmo, Zizzi, TGI Friday's, Five Guys Handmade Burger Co, Pizza Hut and Nando's. There is also a 14-screen Cineworld cinema.
Property director for Tortilla, Rob Lucy, said: "Scotland has been a target in our expansion plans for some time, but only now, with the opening of Silverburn's leisure extension, has the perfect location become available. We are in a prominent position in one of Scotland's most exciting, popular and successful shopping centres."
Sarah Fox, head of restaurants and leisure at Hammerson added: "We are looking forward to Tortilla making its debut in Scotland with us. The brand choosing to launch at Silverburn not only completes the vibrant mix of restaurants on offer but also reaffirms the centre's position as the region's premium retail, dining and leisure destination that continues to appeal not only to the local catchment but also to customers from further afield."
