Valentine Warner creates pizzas for PizzaExpress
TV cook and food writer Valentine Warner has teamed up with high street restaurant chain PizzaExpress and has created two limited edition pizzas available across the UK from next month.
Warner is the latest guest chef to collaborate with PizzaExpress following in the footsteps of Theo Randall and Francesco Mazzei. It is the first time his dishes will be available on the high street.
Warner's two pizza creations, which are inspired by a love of pizza and his time spent as a waiter at PizzaExpress in the 1990s, will be available from 24 April.
For his fennel and salami pizza, priced at £11.75, Warner has collaborated with artisan charcuterie supplier Trealy Farm to create a soft fennel salami. The pizza combines fennel seeds with chilli flakes, mozzarella and PizzaExpress's classic pasta sauce, finished off with grana padano, rocket and finely sliced fresh fennel tossed in lemon oil and lemon zest.
Meanwhile his puttanesca pizza, priced £10.75, features marinated anchovies, capers and green and black olives combined with fresh chillies, lemon oil, lemon zest, garlic oil and fresh oregano.
Commenting on the partnership, Warner said: "I've been going to PizzaExpress all my life and even worked there as a waiter during my student days. I'm really proud of the two pizzas we've created and am excited to see them on the menu of my favourite pizza place."
Antenor Siqueira, development chef at PizzaExpress added: "Valentine is such a burst of energy and inspiration. We've loved working with him to bring these knock-out pizzas to the menu."
