Gas Street Social set to open in Birmingham's Mailbox

The Shaker Group is to open a restaurant in Birmingham retail complex the Mailbox in March.

Gas Street Social will be the second opening for the group, which launched Shaker&Company, a cocktail bar near Euston in London three years ago.

It plans to invest £750,000 in the new site, which will specialise in modern European cuisine and offer a range of cocktails created by the Shaker consultancy alongside wine and craft beers.

The restaurant will feature an industrial theme with large sharing tables alongside booth areas.

Shaker Group managing director Adam Freeth said: "We are delighted to be amongst such great company here at the Mailbox, and as a Birmingham based company, we're excited to be opening this venue on home soil. We've brought together a fantastic team to create an incredible design and food and beverage offer, which we believe will be a great addition to the new Mailbox and Birmingham's world-class culinary scene."

Melony Spencer, director at Spencer Swinden, added: "We were excited to work on Gas Street Social from the outset as Adam had such a clear vision of his concept of sharing and socialising. We've brought that to life with design that creates a fantastic energy throughout the whole venue amid big sharing tables and fluid seating to suit different sized groups, in a hyper-modern setting of urban industrial glamour."
