Hydes acquires Salford site for new brewery
Manchester-based brewer and pub company Hydes has acquired a new site for its brewery, in Salford.
The move comes after Hydes announced in January this year that it would close its 150-year-old Queens brewery in Moss Side.
The new site will be in Kansas Avenue in Salford, close to Media City and Salford Quays.
Hydes said it would contain a more modern and efficient brewery, and would allow it to reposition its brewing business and focus exclusively on the production of high-quality beers targeted at the growing cask ale sector.
It said it would continue to brew old staples such as Hydes Original and Manchester's Finest but that the new brewery plant would also enable it to brew a much wider and more diverse range than ever before.
The company plans to move to the new site later this year.
