Rock Restaurants to open a third restaurant
The team behind Rock Restaurants, which has two sites in London and Dorset, is set to launch a third restaurant.
Nick Atkins, Jeremy Brown and Jonny Townsend, who opened Rock in Wimborne in last month, have taken over a new site in nearby Westbourne for their second Rock restaurant in Dorset. The group also runs a Rock restaurant in Rayne's Park, south London.
Housed in a former 18th century Methodist church, the new restaurant will open on 20 November. With seating for up to 80 diners, interiors will feature antique oak panelling and hand painted wallpapers next to stained glass windows and high vaulted ceilings. A pianist will overlook the dining room from a balcony. There will also be a chef's table overlooking the kitchen.
The menu at Rock will be focused on seasonal British food, with head chef Daniel Small, in charge of the kitchen. Typical autumnal dishes will include game, seafood and seasonal vegetables such as roasted breast of pheasant with braised cabbage and fondant potato; pork belly and pan-fried scallops with foie gras sauce and apple; or grilled pollock with sorrel butter sauce, spinach and sweet potato. The average spend will be around £30 for three courses.
The restaurant will be managed by Kelly Ager, who previously worked with Atkins at Chewton Glen.
Commenting on the new restaurant, Atkins said: "We are especially excited about our Westbourne venue given its dramatic and quirky setting. We've had a huge amount of fun planning how to use the space to create our signature informal and friendly restaurant environment."
