Aberdeen restaurant owner's TripAdvisor reply sparks online shares

A response from a restaurateur on review site TripAdvisor has been shared thousands of times online after he replied to a diner with what he called a "twisted sense of reality".

A reviewer, named "injured2015", wrote on 25 April: "During a visit last night one of our party was cut by broken glass that a waitress dropped. The manager viewed the injury and attended to it however there were no antiseptic wipes available and a plaster requested was taken away from the table before it could be used. At no time did the manager apologise for this incident nor did he offered any form of recompense at the end of the meal we suggested a gesture of good will but he was reluctant."

But Bothwell called the review a "remarkably creative piece of writing", and said he had been waiting for someone from the dining party to comment negatively.

"You either have a twisted sense of reality or you're simply full of it," he wrote, promising to "clarify the actual situation for the curious readers". He specified that the diner received a ½-inch scratch from the broken glass, and said that his staff had offered antiseptic wipes, a clean towel with crushed ice, and a "choice of plasters" which "seemed to do the job".

He then confirmed that the party had looked happy with their evening when he went to check on the table, with "collective faces smiling ear to ear".

Bothwell then suggested that the customers may have been affected by the amount of wine they had drunk, and then alleged that the diner had "started feeling my backside".

He concluded: "And that is how it went".

The TripAdvisor user in question has not yet responded to Bothwell's reply at the time of writing.
