Action Against Hunger launches ‘Love Food Give Food' appeal
Charity Action Against Hunger has launched its annual appeal ‘Love Food Give Food', which encourages restaurants to help raise funds for humanitarian action.
The fundraising drive - which takes place throughout September and October - asks restaurants to participate by either donating a percentage of sales from a chosen dish, hosting a one-off event or asking diners to make an optional donation.
After raising over £450k last year, the charity has already received pledges from restaurants including Gidleigh Park in Devon, Pollen Street Social and Boisdale (both in London) as well as groups Ping Pong, Carluccio's and Hawksmoor.
In addition, the charity is helping organise a series of supperclubs from well-known London food bloggers. Known as ‘Supperheroes', the events will see the bloggers turning their homes into pop-up restaurants, with all profits going to Action Against Hunger.
Emma Cullingford, head of food-related fundraising at the charity, said: "With the already burgeoning popularity of the Love Food Give Food appeal, we are incredibly excited by the prospect of building on the fantastic success of last year.
"We hope that our mission to turn the nation's culinary passion into humanitarian action will once more help save the lives of malnourished children and their families around the world."
