Catermasters named Best Employer at Best Business Awards 2012
Workplace caterer Catermasters has won the Best Employer category at the 2012 Best Business Awards.
The Leamington-based company's recognition comes after securing 59th place in the medium-sized business category of the Sunday Times Top 100 Best Companies to Work For.
Andrew Areoff, chairman of the Best Business Award judges, said: "The staff at Catermasters clearly love their job because absenteeism is extremely low and they talk about the company as being more like a family than a business.
"Catermasters gives the impression that staff are committed, effective and motivated mainly because they feel that the company really does put them first. The real secret of its success is communication.
"It has a full schedule of employee engagement programmes and the two founders are often seen having a casual coffee with a member of staff."
Nigel Johnson, Catermasters joint managing director, said: "Catering is a notoriously tough industry so we work very hard to make sure our staff are well looked after and feel that they are valued and have a chance to progress their careers. This award shows we've got our approach right."
