Chris Denney to leave Hambrough's Pond Cafe after just two months

Chris Denney is to leave his role as head chef of the Pond Cafe at the Hambrough hotel on the Isle of Wight today, after just two months.

Denney started his role at the Hambrough Group in May this year.

His arrival coincided with chef John Campbell's decision to withdraw from negotiations to run the Hambrough group, which includes the five-AA-star and Michelin-starred Hambrough hotel in Ventnor, and the Ventnor Winter Gardens project.

Jo Rogers, operations director at the Hambrough, said Denney was leaving by "mutual consent". He now plans to spend a couple of months in Brazil doing stages in top restaurants.

"The Hambrough Group would like to wish Chris every success for the future," Rogers said.

Denney will be replaced in his role by his sous chef Joe Gould, as of tomorrow.

Denney was not available for comment as this article was posted online.
