Deadline extended for 2016 Gold Service Scholarship entries

Applications to take part in the event, which is aimed at 22 to 28-year-olds working in food and beverage service, can now be accepted until Friday 9 October.

Suzanne Weekes, competition secretariat, said: "We have had a number of requests for an extension and after taking these into consideration, we are now giving potential applicants an extra week to apply."

Now in its fourth year, the Gold Service Scholarship will involve a paper judging before the holding of regional finals in November at the Langham hotel, London. The national final will be held at the Connaught hotel in February 2016, with the winner announced soon after at an awards ceremony at Claridge's.

The past winners of the event include Rebecca Dibben, James Fleming and Daniele Quattromini.
