Gold medal for Danny Hoang at EuroSkills

The UK cooking competitor at EuroSkills 2014, held in Lille, France, triumphed with a gold medal, yesterday.

Danny Hoang, aged 20, achieved his success following three days of hard-fought competition , during which 450 young workers from 25 countries competed in 41 skills.

Hoang is a graduate of Westminster Kingsway College and works at the Grove hotel, Chandler's Cross, Hertfordshire.

Meanwhile, his counterpart in restaurant service, Lucy Jones (below), achieved a medallion for excellence.

Jones trained at Brockenhurst College and now works at Chewton Glen, New Milton, Hampshire.

The UK team achieved a total of three gold and six silver medals, across all disciplines, compared to two gold, one silver and two bronze medals at the last EuroSkills event, two years ago, in Belgium.
