Heston Blumenthal's iconic three-Michelin-starred restaurant the Fat Duck has reported a dip in profits despite increased turnover for the financial year up to May 2018.
The restaurant, which made Blumenthal a household name when he acquired his third star at the site in 2004, reported pre-tax profits of £297,788, down from £533,145 the previous year.
The results follow the previous year's profitable performance after the restaurant ceased operation in the UK and moved the kitchen to Melbourne, Australia for a nine-month pop-up. The 2015 refurbishment saw the Fat Duck's stars suspended, before being returned in the following edition of the guide. Despite posting losses of £361,582 for 2016, the restaurant quickly returned to profitability in its 2017 results.Get The Caterer every week on your smartphone, tablet, or even in good old-fashioned hard copy (or all three!).
