Norwich EDP Chef of the Year to open his own pub

This year's EDP (Eastern Daily Press Norfolk Magazine) Norfolk Food and Drink Chef of the Year is to become head chef of his own pub.

Having spent 12 years as head chef at the traditional Imperial Hotel, Great Yarmouth, Dixon told the paper that the Chef of the Year award had inspired him to take on his own place. "This opportunity came up and it was too good to miss," he said.

The 50-seat pub, formerly owned by finance director Philip Scott - who bought the pub from Admiral Taverns and saved it from developers in 2011 â€' is said to date back to the 1800s, and has a garden and a large restaurant area.

Dixon hopes to open by 6 December this year.
