Gold Service Scholar Daniele Quattromini offers his career advice
"It's not just who you know, it's who you listen to," was the advice of 2015 Gold Service Scholarship winner Daniele Quattromini to hospitality students at the annual Student Learning and Development Forum.
Quattromini discussed his career path, including his internship at Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons ("a second school") and the journey that led to him becoming manager of Club Lounge 39 and winning the Gold Service Scholarship, which he described as "the proudest moment" of his career. He also encouraged students not to give up on their goals if they do not succeed the first time - he was unsuccessful in the 2014 Gold Service Scholarship before going on to win it in 2015.
He advised the young delegates to look at the people they want to work with as well as the places, admitting he has adopted some of his own leadership attributes from the "fantastic" managers he has worked with previously. Quattromini also reminded the audience to be humble and patient, particularly at the early stages of their careers. "The people that are sitting around you are the people you're going to be working with in the future," he added.
The Student Learning and Development Forum is organised by the Institute of Hospitality.
