Cotswolds88 to relaunch its restaurant
Boutique hotel Cotswolds88 is to relaunch its restaurant, the 88 Room, as Juniper.
Located in the village of Painswick, the 36-seat restaurant won three AA rosettes last January, with head chef Lee Scott serving a modern British menu focused on locally sourced ingredients.
Scott said the relaunch was to give the restaurant its own identity, separate from the hotel, with the name inspired by Juniper Common at the top of Painswick village.
The restaurant will launch a new à la carte menu in addition to the existing set menus and tasting menus.
"We want to be more competitive locally. We're not in London and even though we got our third rosette we are finding it hard to justify the pricing structure and get lots of repeat business instead of just special occasions," Scott explained.
"Everything will be individually priced so you can have a main course if you want with a glass of wine without feeling pressured into anything else."
The 17-bedroom Cotswolds88 is owned by Phil and Val Harris, who took over the property approximately four years ago from previous owner and Loungelover London co-founder Marchella De Angelis.
Scott has been head chef for three years, having previously spent just under a year with Gordon Ramsay Holdings at the Savoy Grill in London. He also ran his own restaurant, Anthurium, in Cambridge.
