St Ermin's hotel changes ownership

The four-AA-star, 331-bedroom St Ermin's Hotel in Westminster, London, has been sold to USA-based Tei Fu and Oi-lin Chen, for an undisclosed sum.

Sold by an affiliate of Angelo Gordon & Co, a privately held investment management company, and Amerimar Enterprises and Gracemark, both investor and operating companies, the hotel was acquired by the trio of businesses for £65m in 2010.

Following the sale to the Chen family, the hotel will continue to be managed under the Autograph Collection brand by a unit of Amerimar Enterprises.

St Ermin's incorporates the three-AA-rosette Adam Handling at Caxton restaurant, the Caxton Bar and Caxton Terrace.

The Chens, who originate from Taiwan, made their fortune from their nutritional products business, Surinder International, which was launched in 1982. They also operate the Sunworld Dynasty Hotel Group.

Originally built as mansion apartments in 1889, the building was converted into a hotel in 1899 by Victorian theatre designer JP Briggs.
