Bystro restaurant group appoints chef Stephen Marsh

Cornwall restaurant group Bystro has appointed Stephen Marsh as chef manager to oversee the firm's two restaurants, which both opened within the past year.

Bystro's managing director Ben Stevens said the firm plans to increase its food offering with the appointment of Marsh.

Stevens said: "Stephen is the perfect choice for the Bystro team; shortlisted against Nathan Outlaw, Paul Ainsworth and Chris Eden in the 2014 What's On Cornwall Awards for best chef and with over 10 years' experience of two-rosette cooking in Cornwall, Stephen comes with some amazing food experience."

He added: "Stephen is here to help push our business and our food offering through the roof. Aiming to deliver something extra special in both Redruth and St Austell; towns previously not highly thought of on the food scene."

The 100-seat Bystro at the Bank restaurant and bar occupies the old Lloyds Bank in St Austell's town centre. It features six private rooms for meetings and dinner parties, while two large function rooms are also being developed - including one in the original bank vault.

Bystro at the Lamb & Flag in Redruth offers a 36-seat dining room but the firm plans to develop more of the building and create an outside dining space.

Stevens added: "We have huge plans for both venues, but being a small family business everything takes time. It's been a long hard winter but we're keen to make a big impact in both towns this year and raising our standards is a massive part of that."
