Lickfold Inn, Karnavar and Auberge du Lac join Menu Catey shortlist
Tom Sellers' Lickfold Inn in West Sussex, Manoj Karnavar's Karnavar in South Croydon, and Auberge du Lac under Marcus McGuinness at Hertfordshire's Brocket Hall have all been shortlisted for The Caterer's Menu of the Year Catey award 2015, sponsored by Quorn.
Restaurants are selected quarterly from all the menus featured on the Menuwatch pages of the Chef section of The Caterer over the previous three months.
The addition of the latest three restaurants means the Menu of the Year shortlist is now complete. The 12 shortlisted restaurants are:
• The Whitebrook restaurant with rooms (formerly the Crown at Whitebrook)
• Karnavar
• Murano
• Ox
The full shortlist of 12 menus will be judged this month and a final shortlist of four restaurants released ahead of the annual Catey awards in July when the ultimate winner will be announced.
The menus are judged on innovation within the price bracket of that particular establishment or contract; good use of seasonal produce on the menu; creativity of the dishes being served; careful marrying of textures and flavours of the component ingredients; value for money; and, seeing the menu or selection of dishes, would the judges be tempted to eat there.
Judges for the prestigious award include Clare Smyth, chef-patron of Restaurant Gordon Ramsay, 2013 Menu of the Year Catey winner Gary Usher of Sticky Walnut in Chester, and AA group area manager Giovanna Grossi.
The Caterer Awards, now in their 32nd year and also known as the Cateys, will take place on 7 July 2015. To explore sponsorship opportunities contact Rob Adam at rob.adam@thecaterer.com. For all ticket enquiries, please contact Martha Allardyce at martha.allardyce@thecaterer.com.
